I don’t want to sound a bit too much like Tom on this one so ill keep it all above board!
Ever since Smart went boombastic on their customers on the phone/broadband front I have been with Magnet Entertainment. Honestly, the only reason I signed up with Magnet was because they provided 4mbs Broadband at good price and would have me moved from smart within two weeks.
Now I must admit Magnet had my broadband connection moved even quicker than I could ever expect! (Even if they did provide me with a ADSL modem with a 2 pin plug and no adapter!) I also had some teething problems regarding speed, this needed a bit of tweaking on Magnets End. I had to call in a few favors to get this bit sorted out!
So that’s where I thought it would end. New provider, some teething problems, everything would work itself out! Turns out, I was wrong!
It seems my world class DSL modem that Magnet supplied (2 pins and all) decides to lock up at what seems to be random intervals. There is no real pattern to this lock up, this has to be resolved by a manual hard reset. The modem also has built-in VOIP, magnet runs its phones over the broadband package. The issue with this is that when my modem locks up my phone no longer works.
So all this said, my issue is no longer about the problems I’m having. I have been trying to contact Magnet support via phone to notify them that im having problems. What pisses me off about small broadband providers is their lack of support staff and slow response times. I would also love to have a support email for them. There doesn’t seem to be any emails for support on Magnets website.
So if anyone from magnet is reading this.. or if you know any of magnets support staff … Please send them over here .. Id love if you could give me a call and we could get this resolved. jason@jason-roe.com
Update:
Ok so i finally get onto support. They have no idea why my modem is fuged! Fine, give me the details ill try another modem! No joy, they dont give out that kind of info. So they are gona send another one out :/ .. I better not have another 2 pin plug saga!

Sounds a bit like my Chorus experience and the famous ” the speed will get faster its only warming up” quote
I hate giving Eircom business, but it works plain and simple

ClearWire is the same. In the end I got all my money back, simply because I WAS persistent, and their service and support was… un-existent. BT works now. Not really fast, but works…
